The Rappahannock Teen Abstinence Program (RappTAP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating our community on the value of sexual abstinence in youth. RappTAP's vision is to prevent teen pregnancies and promote abstinence by encouraging responsible decision making through educating and empowering youth.
For 10 years we’ve been carrying the message that sex is worth waiting for to thousands of teens and parents in schools, churches, and community settings. RappTAP presents a scientifically accurate abstinence message to youth and adults. We use Worth the Wait® abstinence education curriculum to instruct students as part of the school Family Life Education requirements. RappTAP provides speakers for all audiences free of charge. We are funded through a federal Community Based Abstinence Education (CBAE) grant from The Department of Health and Human Services. For more information about what we do, or for information on sex and how to talk to your kids about sex, please contact us.

even when precautions are taken against pregnancy and STDs. - 94% of teens say they should be given a strong abstinence

Abstinence is a decision not to have sex. Having sex is a big responsibility. If a person chooses abstinence, they don't have to worry about pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), or how they might feel emotionally after sex. Abstinence is the healthiest choice for teens. Even if you have already had sex, you
can make a decision today to not have sex again, this is called "Renewed Virginity."
Plenty of teens have decided to save sex for marriage. Some of their reasons are:
- They aren't ready to be a parent yet.
- They don't want to get a sexually transmitted disease.
- They want to enjoy their youth.
- They want to learn more about love and relationships before adding the complication of sex.
- They know that having sex won't make you feel good about yourself.
- They have plans for life and sex before marriage isn't one of them.
One of these reasons may be a reason you decide to wait for sex or you may have your own reason. There are lots of good reasons to wait for sex.
